Amex Introduces Delta Reserve Credit Card with More Bonus MQMs

American Express recently announced the new Delta Reserve Credit Card and the Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card. These new premium cards offer:

Up to 10,000 Delta Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) after first purchase
15,000 MQMs after spending $30,000 in a calendar year. Earn an additional 15,000 MQMs when your spending reaches $60,000. These “Miles Boosts” not only allow you to earn up to 30,000 MQMs for Medallion status, but they also allow you to earn 30,000 miles for travel.
The ability to give the MQMs earned from Card spending to friends and family
Complimentary access to Delta’s Crown Room Clubs with two guests when flying on Delta.
Access to Pay with Miles, a new feature that allows members to pay for all or part of a ticket using miles, with no blackout dates or inventory restrictions.

State Farm Good Neighbor Visa: Intro No Fee 0% APR Balance Transfers

State Farm’s Good Neighbor credit card offers a 0% introductory APR on balance transfers for 9 months, with no balance transfer fees in the first 90 days. After 90 days, balance transfers carry a 3% fee with a $5 min and $75 max. Unfortunately, there are a couple of important caveats: according to FW, 1) you’re unlikely to be approved for the card unless you have a preexisting relationship with State Farm, and 2) State Farm is known to pull from all three credit bureaus.

Last Chance to Get 5% Cash Back on All Purchases with the Citi CashReturns Card

The Citi CashReturns card offers 5% cash back on all purchases for the first three months that you hold the card, with NO limit to the cash you can earn. It’s a truly incredible deal, especially if you can get a large credit limit. 5% is enough so that it even becomes profitable to pay your taxes with your credit card.

However, all good things must come to an end and the offer must have become too expensive for Citi to continue as the 5% offer was pulled from their site today. Instead, the card will only earn a flat 1% cash back, with an “additional 20% bonus” for your first year. Reading the fine print, what it really means is that you’ll earn a 1.2% rebate for the first year.

~~The 5% offer is still available for a limited time here, though it will probably be gone by Wednesday.~~

Discover Acquires Diners Club International from Citi

On Monday, Discover announced that it had reached a deal with Citigroup to purchase Diners Club International for $165 million. This acquisition should eventually result in increased global acceptance of Discover, enabling Discover cardholders to use their cards at international merchants that accept Diners Club. In turn, international Diners Club cardholders would be able to use their Diners Club card at merchants who accept Discover in North America. Discover expects that integration of the networks would take two to three years.

Currently Discover is only accepted in North and Central America, the Carribbean and China, so adding the Diners Club network will significantly expand its global reach and make it a bigger player among upscale consumers and business travelers.

Chevron and Texaco Credit Cards Add New Benefits

Chevron and Texaco released a redesign of their personal credit cards yesterday, along with several benefits for new cardholders:

Complimentary road service provided by GE Motor Club during the first year to assist with free towing, fuel deliveries, jump start and/or tire services.
ATM access through the Cirrus network
Zero fraud liability
A bonus 20 cents/gallon for 90 days
$20 Chevron or Texaco gift card after first purchase

The free road service offer is valid on new accounts until the end of the year, while the gift card offer is valid on new accounts opened between April 1 and May 31, 2008. More details can be found at http://www.chevrontexacocards.com.

It should be noted, however, that you’ll still be better off in the long term instead using one of the many gas cards rebating at least 5%, since the Chevron/Texaco cards do not offer rebates past the initial 90 days.
