American Express Small Business Saturday Registration Now Open
Small Business Saturday, the holiday that American Express created to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize small, local businesses (and in turn promote its own credit cards to those businesses), is back again for 2013. Starting today, and through 11:59pm MST November 30 unless the enrollment limit is reached sooner, American Express cardmembers can register their cards for the opportunity to earn a $10 statement credit for spending at least $10 at a local small business on November 30, 2013.
How does it work?
- Register any eligible American Express Card online at ShopSmall.com. Alternatively, if you don’t have a computer or email address, you can register by phone by calling 1-866-515-4134 during the enrollment period.
- Use your registered Card on November 30, 2013 to spend $10 or more in a single, in-store transaction at a qualifying small business location. You can find qualifying small businesses by using the Small Business Saturday Map. In general, however, any merchant that is not a large regional or national chain should work. In past years, American Express customer service has been very good about manually crediting transactions that don’t automatically earn the bonus if you contact them.
- Get a one-time $10 statement credit for that transaction from American Express within 90 days after November 30, 2013.
Cardmembers who have participated in past years will note that the bonus has gone down this year from $25 in prior years to $10 this year. It’s still an opportunity to earn a $10 statement per registered card. If you have multiple cards or accounts, each additional card is eligible to be registered in this promo, provided that you enroll them separately. For instance, if you enroll your card and have a spouse who is an authorized user and has an additional card on the same account, your spouse is also eligible for the offer, but you must both register for the promotion separately.
Corporate Cards and all prepaid Card products (other than American Express Serve) are not eligible and enrollment is limited.
