For a limited time, eligible existing SPG Business Amex cardmembers can earn up to 10,000 bonus Starpoints. If you are eligible for this promotion, once you register your card, you’ll earn 5,000 Starpoints after spending $5,000 in qualifying purchases. You’ll earn another 5,000 Starpoints after you spend an additional $5,000 on qualifying purchases, for a maximum of 10,000 bonus Starpoints.

Purchases must be made starting the date that you complete your registration and completed by October 15, 2016.

In the past, the SPG Amex has been one of my favorite points-based credit cards, because its points are both flexible and valuable. However, Starwood’s impending merger with Marriott brings a lot of uncertainty with it. It seems unlikely that the SPG loyalty program will survive intact after the merger without any changes and makes valuing Starpoints harder going forward.

Still, this 10,000 Starpoint bonus is a nice offer for the existing cardmembers who can take advantage of it. It essentially amounts to doubling your points earning on non-Starwood spending if you spend $5,000 or $10,000 by October 15, 2016.
