Currently, the standard deal for the Citi ThankYou® Premier Card offers 50,000 points after you spend $3,000 in your first 3 months of cardmembership. Under this special offer, however, you can instead earn 60,000 ThankYou points–the most ever offered for this card–after spending $3,500 in your first 3 months. All other terms of the two offers appear to be the same. Notably, under both offers, the Premier card carries a $95 annual fee, which is waived for the first year.

The Premier card earns 3x ThankYou points on travel, which includes purchases made in the following categories: car rental agencies, gas stations, commuter transportation, taxi/limousine service, passenger railways, cruise lines, bridges and tolls, parking lots/garages, campgrounds and trailer parks, timeshares, bus lines, motor home and recreational vehicle rental, and boat leases and boat rentals.

2x points are earned per dollar spent on restaurant and entertainment expenses, and 1x points per dollar spent on all other purchases. Other features of the card include no foreign transaction fees and the ability to transfer points to a vareity of travel loyalty programs.

What are 60,000 ThankYou points worth?
60,000 points can be redeemed for $600 in gift cards or $750 in airfare, hotels, cruises or car rentals when you take advantage of the 25% redemption bonus using the Citi ThankYou travel portal. With a little ingenuity, it is also possible to convert 60,000 points into $600 in cash by using the mortgage payment or student loan rebate options. (See this post for details.)

Churners should note, however, that you are not eligible to earn the ThankYou points bonus if you have had a Citi ThankYou Premier card opened or closed in the past 18 months.
