For those who live in the southeast, First Tennessee has an attractive intro balance transfer offer available on both the First Tennessee Platinum Premier Visa and the First Tennessee Visa Classic credit card: For the first 12 months, you’ll get an intro 0% APR for 12 months on both balance transfers and purchases with no annual fee and no balance transfer fees.

First Tennessee Cash Rewards program
Having either the Platinum Premier Visa or the Visa Classic card also entitles you to automatic enrollment in First Tennessee Cash Rewards program which gives you cash back when you shop at participating retailers. Rewards vary by merchant, but can be up to 10% cash back on your purchases. These offers will also be personalized for you and may vary per card based on where you shop. Unless you specify otherwise in your communication preferences, you’ll receive weekly emails detailing the offers available on your card.

There are no points to track–cash rewards that you earn will be credited directly to your account. So, the rewards program seems to be convenient, although overall, lackluster. Ultimately, though, the rewards program is not really relevant, as the main reason to get the card is of course for the intro balance transfer offer.

Other card features
Both cards allow linking to your checking account for overdraft protection and are compatible with Apple Pay. Only the Platinum Premier Visa, however, offers travel and emergency assistance and auto rental insurance.

Credit lines start at $5,000 for the Platinum Premier Visa, but you must either reside in Tennessee or one of its bordering states in order to apply for either card.
