Amex Extends $25 Credit for Shopping at Small Businesses

If you missed the original offer, you’re in luck. Amex is extending its offer to promote spending at small businesses by offering a $25 statment credit when you use your American Express card to spend at least $25 at a qualified small business by December 31, 2010. Eligible merchants include any independently owned small businesses that accept the American Express Card. Purchases made online, at large, national chains, at franchised business locations and at government agencies are not eligible. Prepaid and corporate cards and ExpressPay transactions are not eligible.

To get the credit, you must first register for the promotion, which you can do here. Registration is limited to the first 300,000 enrollees. Note that if you’ve already signed up a card for the previous Small Business Saturday promotion, that card won’t be eligible for this extended promo.

Amex Small Business Saturday – Get $25 for Spending $25 at Qualified Small Businesses

Together with more than a dozen advocacy, public, and private organizations, Amex is declaring November 27, 2010, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, as Small Business Saturday.

As part of a larger promotion encouraging spending at small independent stores in your local community, American Express is giving a $25 statement credit to 100,000 Cardmembers who register their Card and use it at a small business on Small Business Saturday. Eligible merchants include any independently owned small businesses that accept the American Express Card. Purchases made online, at large, national chains, at franchised business locations and at government agencies are not eligible. Prepaid, corporate cards and ExpressPay transactions are not eligible. New SPG Credit Card Benefit: Get 3rd Night Free at Sheraton

Starwood just announced another new benefit for its SPG credit card from Amex: get a free third night when you stay 2 consecutive nights at a Sheraton. In addition, they are celebrating this new feature with a sweepstakes called the “Thank Goodness It’s Thursday” giveaway. Every Thursday between today and December 1, 2010, 3 people will win a 3-night stay. Each week, the prizes will get progressively better. The first week, the prizes will consist of 3-night stays at a category 3 hotel (21,000 Starpoints). The next week, winners will receive a 3-night stay at a category 4 hotel (30,000 Starpoints). Third week prizes are 3 night stays at a category 5 hotel (36,000 Starpoints).
