American Express has brought back its Small Business Saturday promotion for another year. What does this mean? On Saturday, November 26, 2011 (the day after Black Friday), you can receive a one-time $25 statement credit when you use an eligible American Express card to make a purchase of at least $25 at a small business. To participate in this promo, you must enroll your card first at this link. The number of cards that can be registered for this promo is limited, so you’ll want to register ASAP.
There is also a limit of one statement credit per registered card, regardless of the number of transactions you make with the card. However, if you have multiple authorized users on a card, each authorized user should be able to register separately and earn a credit. Statement credits should be issued within 5 business days after your qualifying purchase but may take up to 2 billing cycles to post.
To find participating small businesses in your area, you can visit the Small Business Saturday Facebook page and click “See where you can shop to earn your $25 statement credit.”
Through September 25, 2011 or while supplies last, you can get a $50 gift card for The Cheesecake Factory for only 2,500 Membership Rewards points, half off the normal cost.
Gift cards can be used at any of The Cheesecake Factory restaurants or for online purchases at thecheesecakefactory.com. The card does not expire or accrue fees, but is not valid in the state of New Mexico.
Note: Currently PlasticJungle is offering $40 in cash for a $50 Cheesecake Factory gift card, which would net you 1.6 cents per Membership Rewards point. However, you have to wonder if this exchange rate would change with a sudden influx of cards.
Under a new promo, American Express Platinum and Premier Gold Cardmembers may be able to get 10,000 Membership Rewards points for each additional cardmember they add onto their account. This bonus is good for up to 5 additional authorized users for a maximum bonus of 50,000 Membership Rewards points.

For a limited time, the Starwood American Express is offering up to 30,000 bonus Starpoints as a signup bonus — enough for 3 free nights at a Category 4 hotel (or 10-15 nights at a Category 1 hotel). You’ll earn 10,000 bonus Starpoints after your first purchase and another 20,000 bonus Starpoints after spending at least $4,500 in your first 3 months of cardmembership. In addition, the annual fee of $65 will be waived for the first year.
Even without its generous signup bonus, however, the SPG Amex is one of my favorite travel credit cards.

American Express is embracing social media with both arms. In addition to its recently revealed partnership with FourSquare, Amex is now rolling out a new Facebook application that promises to offer cardmembers deals based upon their profile information.

Amex and social networking site Foursquare recently announced a partnership to offer their users special discounts at selected merchants. Under this system, Foursquare users with an American Express account can sync their accounts together and then receive “check-in” discounts without the need to print or clip a coupon.
