American Express recently debuted a new mobile offer engine that promises to recommend and rank relevant merchant offers in real time based on cardmembers’ spending history and location. The new technology is being piloted via the new “My Offers” feature on the American Express iPhone App.

American Express has been coming out with a number of social media promotions lately, but many of them require a Twitter account in order to take advantage of them. For instance, the latest Amex/Twitter offers include a $10 statement credit after spending at least $50 at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, or a $10 statement credit after spending at least $50 online at vent-privee.com.
If you don’t already have a Twitter account, is it really worth setting one up just for these types of offers? That’s for you to decide, but to make things easier for those on the fence, I’ve created a step-by-step guide on how to sync your American Express card with Twitter. After following these steps, it should be relatively simple to participate in future Amex/Twitter deals. (Note: This guide is meant for less tech-savvy people.)

In honor of the Tribeca Film Festival, American Express is running another social media promotion with Twitter. American Express cardmembers who sync their Amex with Twitter and tweet using hashtag #AmexTFF10 will receive a $10 statement credit after making a single purchase of at least $10 in-store at accepting merchants in lower Manhattan by April 29, 2012.

American Express is running yet another promo with the social network, Twitter. This time, when you sync your Twitter account with your American Express card, then tweet using a specific merchant’s promo hashtag, you’ll be eligible to earn statement credits at a variety of retailers, such as Whole Foods, Best Buy or McDonald’s.

American Express recently tinkered with its initial sign up bonus for the Hilton HHonors Surpass Card in a way that should make it more attractive to a broader audience. While the card still offers up to 60,000 bonus points, as it has since its inception, you’ll now receive 40,000 points after your first purchase and an additional 20,000 bonus HHonors points after your first $3,000 in purchases. Previously, you would earn 40,000 points after your first purchase an an additional 2,500 bonus points for each of your first eight stays at a Hilton property within the first 18 months of your Cardmembership.

American Express has an excellent offer for those who live near New York: When you register your eligible Amex for this promo, then use that card to spend a total of at least $200 at 2 or more participating merchants between February 1 and 29, 2012, you’ll receive a $50 statement credit.
