Visa Checkout: Get $25 Off $100 at StaplesVisa recently announced Visa Checkout, a new payment option designed to streamline the online purchase process for consumers. The new service replaces V.me, Visa’s previous effort to roll out a mobile wallet. Report: Most U.S. Credit Cards Will be EMV Enabled by End of 2015

EMV Smart Card ChipWorried about how secure your credit card is? The good news is that most Americans will eventually find their existing credit cards replaced with more secure EMV versions. The less good news is that in most cases, it won’t be happening immediately.

According to a recently released report from the Aite Group, 70% of U.S. credit cards and 41% of U.S. debit cards will be EMV enabled by the end of 2015. EMV chip technology, named after its original developers (Europay, MasterCard and Visa), is becoming the global standard for credit card and debit card payments because it promises to bring a reduction in card fraud resulting from counterfeit, lost and stolen cards.

Sam’s Club MasterCard with 5-3-1 Cash Back Program: First Retail Credit Card with Chip and PIN Technology

Sam's Club 5-3-1 MasterCardIn the aftermath of the massive data breaches at Target and other retailers, the interest in credit card security has grown significantly. Pushed by consumer demand for more secure card technology, Target announced earlier this year that it was accelerating its plan to rollout all its credit and debit cards with “chip and PIN” technology by early 2015, with new payment terminals appearing by September 2014.

However, it is Sam’s Club, a subsidiary of Wal-Mart, that will be the first major retailer in the US to offer secure chip technology in its credit cards.
