Amex Offers: Get $30 Back After Spending $100 at Target or Walmart, Up to 5 Times (YMMV)

It’s not quite as good as the Amex / Smart & Final promo, but this latest Amex Offer featuring Target and Walmart is a tremendous deal nonetheless: eligible American Express cardmembers can receive a $30 statement credit each time they use their enrolled Amex to make a single purchase of $100 or more in-store at Target or Walmart by July 31, 2015. Cardmembers can receive this $30 statement credit up to 5 times during the promotion period. Unfortunately, this is not a public offer and is targeted to a select minority of Amex cardholders.

Visa Checkout Offers From Dunkin’ Donuts, Williams-Sonoma, Crazy8, BuyDig.com, Rakuten

As part of a new, co-branded campaign dubbed “Get Stuff Dunkin’,” Dunkin’ Donuts and Visa Checkout officially announced today the launch of a new mobile payment option for guests, integrating Visa Checkout on DunkinDonuts.com and within the Dunkin’ mobile app. To promote the new payment option, through June 14, or while supplies list, the two companies are offering a free $10 bonus when you load a new or reload an existing Dunkin’ Donuts Card with $25 or more using Visa Checkout.

Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card Adds New Benefits, Increases Annual Fee

The SPG Credit Card from American Express has long been one of my favorite travel credit cards, primarily because SPG points have traditionally been quite flexible and among the most valuable, when it comes to loyalty points. Coming August 11, 2015, in addition to a new card design, several new benefits will be added to the card, making it more attractive to frequent travelers, at the cost of an increased annual fee.

Thanks in part to the work of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, over the past few years, it’s become a lot easier for consumers to get a copy of their credit score for free. In fact, while just a few years ago, there was no way to get your credit score without paying for it, by the end of this year, more than half of all Americans should be able to get their credit score for free, as more banks begin offering this service as a complimentary benefit to their customers.

Discover it Card: Double Cash Back for a Year For New and Existing Cardmembers

Beginning June 1, 2015, Discover is rolling out a new promotion for Discover it cardmembers. Reports from multiple customer service reps have been conflicting, but most are saying that cardmembers will be able to earn double cash back for 12 billing cycles once they have enrolled, with enrollment being open in June and July. The double cash back will certainly apply to all of your 1% purchases, but there is debate over whether 5% category purchases will also be doubled. At the minimum, though, this would turn your Discover it card into a 2% cash back card temporarily. The double cash back also should supposedly apply to Discover Deals cash back. Capital One recently made a few lucrative signup bonus offers that were previously only available through targeted promos now open to the general public. When you sign up for a new Spark Cash for Business from Capital One and spend $4,500 within the first 3 months, you’ll earn a one-time $500 cash bonus. Alternatively, you can sign up for a new Spark Miles for Business from Capital One and spend $4,500 within the first 3 months to receive a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles. Capital One miles can essentially be thought of as credit towards travel purchases, so your 50,000 miles are worth $500 towards travel.

BP Visa Credit Card: Potentially 5% Rebate on Nearly Anything for 90 Days

BP recently announced a few brand new credit cards, one of which may be quite attractive to some people. The new BP Visa® Credit Card, issued by new partner Synchrony Financial, offers a reward of 25 cents off per gallon for every $100 you spend everywhere Visa is accepted for the first 90 days, excluding non-BP gas stations. After 90 days, you’ll earn a discount of 25 cents per gallon for every $100 you spend at BP, 15 cents per gallon for every $100 you spend on eligible groceries, dining and travel, and 5 cents per gallon on everything else, excluding non-BP gas stations. There are a number of restrictions to note, however.

Just in time for Memorial Day sales, The Home Depot is offering $15 back when you spend at least $75 on your registered American Express card. The Best Gas Credit Cards

With the typical American household buying 1,200 gallons of gas per year, if we assume the cost of gas is $2.50 per gallon–a reasonable estimate of the current national average–that means that the average American household spends about $3,000 per year on gas alone. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get a discount on $3,000 of non-discretionary spending? In theory, it makes the idea of gas credit cards sound great.

Unfortunately, the reality is that most gas station branded credit cards have no signup bonuses, poor rewards and more restrictions, on top of having higher interest rates compared to more general purpose cash back cards. However, in this in-depth survey, we do find some good alternatives for those looking to save the most on their fuel expenses.
