Chase Freedom Unlimited Card – 1.5x Ultimate Rewards on All Spending

Chase Freedom Unlimited CardAs was promised last month, the brand new Chase Freedom Unlimited card is now available online. Chase’s new cash back card is a departure from its original Freedom card which offers 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent in rotating quarterly bonus categories (on up to $1,500 each quarter) and 1 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent on everything else. Instead, the Chase Freedom Unlimited card earns a flat 1.5 Ultimate Rewards per dollar spent on every purchase with no rotating quarterly bonus categories.

As with the original Chase Freedom card–which is not going away–there is no annual fee. Currently, the Freedom Unlimited offers a $150 signup bonus after you spend $500 within your first 3 months of opening your account. In addition, you’ll earn a $25 bonus when you add your first authorized user and make your first purchase within the same 3 month intro period.

It also has a 0% intro APR for 15 months on both purchases and balance transfers. Balance transfers, however, incur a hefty 5% fee with a minimum of $5.

Since the Freedom Unlimited is a separate product from the original Freedom card, if you already have a Freedom card, you can still apply for the Freedom Unlimited. Alternatively, you can request your card to be converted. Card conversions, however, aren’t eligible for new card signup bonuses.
